i knew Spain could do it!
their "tiki-taki" style of football really paid off
i am so proud of them, envy of their patience to keep the ball rolling
until the opponent's defence makes a mistake..

they deserve the World Cup champions title.
with only 8 yellow cards and no red card,
Spain are the fairest team in the whole of World Cup..

in my opinion, Iker Casilias should get the man of the match award..
he is probably the best goalkeeper i have ever seen..

and so now they can proudly go home and parade through the streets of Madrid
because they deserve it more than any other countries..

just when i was about to give up watching tonight's Cameroon vs Denmark match,
i cant freaking get to sleep.
world cup makes me sick
by that i meant staying up late at night till the birds starts chipping and the construction site opposite my block starts those irritating, un-sleep-able noise.

now i really know the meaning of "sleep early and waking up early will be good for your health"
heck, but i dont feel so sick when i stayed up the whole night to complete my designs/drawings.

so i guess my body wants to sleep but my mind wants the world cup
it would go to the underdogs anyways, so why bother watching it Mr. Brain?

with my friends.

when we ordered food from the waitress there.
the waitress asked us whats the occasion about, becuz the manager noticed the
huge bouquet of flowers.
i replied that it was love's birthday
and she said, "ok we shall see what can the kitchen prepare"

minutes passed, and she returned with the food we ordered.
"the cheesecake is on the house"
woah. thats really thoughtful
to think that the manager would go to the extend to notice the flowers
and make such good gesture makes me feel very warm hearted.
nice service to start off with a great movie.

small piece as it is, but its expensive!
after all, its the thoughts that count.
after the hilarious movie
we went around vivo
shop and rest our feet at ben and jerry

and it was dinner time
we went into Sentosa
and headed down to Palawan Beach

i made a reservation earlier in the day
but it seems that it was unnecessary
as it was still early for dinner time
and customers werent here yet

and so we had the whole restaurant to ourselves!

Thursday!

No school on that day,
so Love and I went to the Army Open House at Pasir Laba Camp.
on the way to the open house inside the shuttle bus,
i read this info brochure that there is a quiz that can stand a chance
to win a Chinhook Aerial Ride!
how cool is that!

and there is paintball!
gosh, i always wanted to do paintball shooting.

and we arrived! at the front gates!
i thought there wasnt much visitors on weekdays
and i was wrong..
there were LOTS of NCC cadets, ite students and other students.
no difference from a weekend.

This is the Chinhook helicopter that i was talking earlier.

and so, Love and I wanted to try out
the live firing safari.
its a ride out to the outskirts of the camp
into the wilderness,
whereby we will be in an mock up
mission involving living firing and display of artillery,guns, tanks
and mobile bridges are in action.
all are right in front of our eyes while we are on board
the 5-tonner army truck

this is the truck

that is a mine clearing vehicle
whereby it uses pressure to activate the mines around the area
i couldnt get a clear shot of that vehicle in action =/

but of course,
there wasnt any REAL explosive mines to clear.
its costly you see..

and next, we were to cross a river using floatable mobile bridges

that is the LSV ( Light Strike Vehicle )

which is firing at some enemy who is trying to attack us

they were there within seconds firing at enemy positions.

a very funny movie, esp the army part.

went to ion orchard last last week
and i am only updating it now..

we were having a vey very bad flu that day.
so we just went around the shops and bought nothing.

to combat the damn flu, we decided to torture ourselves
by having hot and spicy thai food.

bad bad flu :(

spicy sour hot tom yam soup in claypot.

the only drink that would douse the flame in our mouths.

and so our mouths were gasping with intense flame and heat
but still the flu still remained.

lessons on the first week wasnt that boring

classmates were VERY quiet.
made a couple a friends here and there.
well, it still takes time until everyone escapes
from shyness..

waking up almost 3hours before the lessons starts is very excruciating
reminds me of the secondary school days,
when i had to wake up 2hours before lessons starts

fortunately, i dont have any lessons on thursday!
so maybe i can use that time to re-adjust myself

after months and months of postponing
we finally went to the highest bridge in Singapore!

after so much walking under the sun,
we bus-ed back to VivoCity and had dinner at Barcelos
man, the food there, i wouldnt say it bad nor good
the quantity doesnt fill love's or my stomach
and they took damn long to serve the food too.
wouldnt recommend on going there for meals..

the carrots and veggies are even more than the grains of rice.

2 chicken skewers only
and they call it main dishes.

after reluctantly finishing it,
we went to Ben and Jerry for dessert.

and that spells the end of my 8 months long holidays!
school is gonna start the next day.
which means i gotta wake up earlier than usual

caught the sight of the moon while watching tv in my room..
reminds me of horror movies when the moon is just over the hill..
the cloud cuts the moon into half..

nothing much going on these few weeks,
hanging out and such..
school starts in less than 2 weeks time!

excited but nervous..
excited cuz its about time to get my limbs about and moving
after resting for around... 8 months?
yeah.. 8months without school while the rest of my friends
are mugging for their tests.. HA!

and guess what.. cause of the damned H1N1
my orientation has shortened to 2 hours!

went down town with love on saturday
to celebrate our early 5th monthlyversary..

after the show, we went to The Ship Bar and Restaurant
for dinner..

we ordered so much food
and we were very very full..

Sentosa again!

this time is with friends
there was suppose to be around 10+ of us?
but in the morning of the outing,
it suddenly reduced to 6
so we just went ahead
nevertheless, it was equally fun..

Tuesday 9th June
went Sentosa with Love!

under the hot and glaring sun
we reached Sentosa at mid-noon.

and we went to Waraku for lunch

CLASS CHALET

had a 2d1n chalet at East Coast Park
its been a long time since we last saw each other
and most probably the last time we will ever see each other

a pity some didnt came..

planned a surprised bdae party for ivan
that guy dont even know that it was for him
until i told him - -..

played poker almost half of the evening..
losers had to lie on the bed while players put the cards on top of u..

cycled from East Coast all the way to Changi Village
for a supper - - ..
a total of 4 hours journey to and fro just for a
plate of nasi lemak and a can of 100 plus..

and caused me to have a damn painful cramp
on my right thigh just because i was riding a double bike with love..
was she even pedaling?

everyone was very very tired
and so we cabbed back

Day 7

last day in Taiwan
dad went out in the morning to meet his
Taiwanese friends for business

mum, sis and I decided to go to a
shopping mall called Pacific Sogo
its is always mentioned in Taiwanese variety shows
and we wondered whats so nice about it?
so we took their train there

i see!
its just like Singapore's Takashimaya
branded stuffs are all sold there
so mum and sis went crazy over it while i dragged
my feet behind them..

then its my turn to go crazy
we headed for another location
Ximending (Xi-men-ding)
its like Bugis Street
except that it more spacious to walk
with lots of shops selling teen's stuffs
from clothes to food to toys to movies

look at the 2nd floor those people on swings?
its not a playground it a cafe

its not a toy shop
but a cafe
cool aint it?

since we are in Taiwan
we must try the milk tea there
after all, milk tea originated from Taiwan..

oh and this is actually the first time i
dropped a sweat in Taiwan
exageratting but its true
their weather there is cold even in Spring
due to the rains

and its time for us to leave for the airport
our tour guide met us back at the hotel
and drove us to the airport
we made him a appreciation gift when we were at Ximending
for all he has done past 4 days
bid farewell and we went into the airport..

it was again
rainy in the evening when we board the flight

had my meal on flight
watched my movies on PSP, listened to songs
and slept
the trip back home never felt so long

thats the moon right beside my window
the plane's wing was reflecting the moonlight
in the photo..

and finally, 5 hours later, Singapore..
the bright lights lit on the wing
indicates it going to land..

and after a very rough landing
almost hurt my butt..
we arrived back home..

it was way past midnight when we landed on Changi..

and HOME SWEET HOME!

Last day.

Day 6
left Hualien late morning
it was the first time i had such a long long sleep ever
since i arrived at Taiwan..
today we hit the roads back to Taipei.
where we will stay for the night there and board the
flight back to Singapore tomorrow..

took these 3 pics outside my hotel..
after breakfast, we head for the scenic beach
near our hotel

the beach has little sand but tons of pebbles and rocks
i wouldnt call it a sandy beach, but a rocky one..
and so we head for the highway back to Taipei..
as the way back was along the eastern coast of Taiwan
facing the Pacific Ocean, the view is ..........
see it for yourself..

and after stopping at Suao (Su-aw)
for a seafood lunch and a visit to the temple
we drove for the next few hours
until we reached Ilan's (Yi-Lan) National Center for Traditional Arts.
well the name of it bores me to the max..

but it a different thing when we reached there
just in time for a performance
they transformed all the deities to cute and friendly
figures..
its unlike those boring scenes where they will just show off
moves and talk all day long

guess what, this is their Starbucks
the whole place is very modern and has many interesting
shops..

and after spending lots of time shopping
and browsing those interesting shops
we jammed our things into every little space into our luggage
this is not just some kind of old and boring museum
but a place whereby visitors can really have real fun and
education..

and off we go straight back to Taipei!

Finally!
we reached Taipei and checked into the same hotel
we stayed during the first two days of our trip..
mum liked the hotel because it was spacious and comfy
almost had the feel of our home
thats why dad booked it again
and i am glad we booked it again because they had Internet
access in our rooms..
no more shifting my laptop to hotel lobbies now..

rested and we took a cab
to Taipei 101
yup it is currently the tallest tower in the world.

its a skyscraper which consists
of offices, shopping mall and a observatory deck
visitors can only can go up to the 87 floor up till the 91 floor..

taken on the 91st floor
thats the rest of the 10 floors

wonder why am i pointing only to South?
correct answer wins a prize!

went back down to the 87th floor,
walked through a corridor
it feels as if u are walking on clouds

thats the winder damper below
its a huge huge ball to balance the tower
in case of strong winds and earthquakes
well in other words
it prevents the tower from swaying violently..

because it was evening
we had 2 different view of both day and night
worth the ticket price eh?

took this inside the lift..
its the world's fastest lift..
it just took 37seconds to reach the top
well i forgot from which floor to which floor
but its damn fast..

dinner time!
ate at the shopping mall below Taipei 101
and we head off to Shihlin (Shi-lin) Night Market
yes, most of us know this name Shihlin
dont we?

after much shopping (AGAIN)
i bought a shirt there
and ate many of their local snacks
got a cab
and head back to the hotel

Day 5

left LuShan in the morning to embark on another journey
first stop!
Taiwan's 2nd highest 7-11 outlet..
hahas funny isnt it?
its located on a mountain too
again, the view is absolutely superb..

and we reached the 2nd highest 7-11 outlet in Taiwan!

bought a few gifts and snacks there
well hey
its the 2nd highest
the highest is located a few minutes away
but we didnt stop by there..

reached a famous sheep farm in Taiwan
its opened to all visitors..
its has a vast grassland for the sheep
to roam around freely and interact with the visitors
unlike farms that we always have the impression
smelly, dirty and filled with poo..
the farm is totally the opposite..

sheep feeding time!

there were two sides that separated them
from the adults and the young ones..
as it was spring time, the young ones
had their fur sheared.. so they appeared skinny!
cute!

its a cafe just beside the feeding area
look at the concept!

and then we walked to catch a performance..

i forgot which breed is this,
but the sheepboys (thats what the performers called themselves)
this kind of dog has the brains but not the stamina

so they called in another breed of dog

this dog has got the stamina
do you know whats the duty of the dog?
NO! not to eat the sheep
but to protect them from danger
just like a bodyguard..

thus they are called sheepdogs..

the performer then ordered the sheepdog to round up the sheep
and escort them up hill and back down..

then they asked a volunteer to separate
3 blacks sheep and 5 white sheep
while the rest moved towards the audience
for a close interaction

when the female volunteer accidentally closed the
gate on one of the sheep's head,
the performer said "eh miss miss! we asked u to separate the sheep,
not kill them!"

but i must admit it was a difficult job trying to coax the sheep into
different corners..

guess whats the whip for?
its to make a sound when they hit the air
to gather the sheep if i am not wrong..

then they asked for a volunteer to hold a balloon
blindfolded while the sheepboy would burst the balloon
with the whip
scary merry!

end of the show,
and we walked to the exit

we stopped for 15mins because the road ahead was too narrow
for both ways and the fog was too thick
thus the police controlled the traffic..

along the way,
we reached Taiwan's highest road..
LOL..

as it is high, the temperature is very low..
we even got down and took photos!
FREEZING!

then we went downhill for the next 2 hours or so,
and we reached another sacred tree that has been around for a thousand years..

thats a cafe just beside the sacred tree

thats a rockslide created by an earthquake a few years ago

and after hours of driving by our tour guide
i must say he has lots of energy to explain every detail and to
chat about earth,sea and skies with my dad = =..
we reached a rest station..

and after a few minutes of driving
we reached a very popular tourist site
seems like every site is popular eh?
but this is highly recommended by the tourism board of Taiwan
its called the Tunnel of the Nine Turns Trail.
its a white gorge and marbles
with rushing waters from the mountain above
towards the beach at Hualien and then towards the Pacific Ocean..

see those white granites
its all nature-made
never man-made..

after a 20minutes walk,
we drove and arrived another location shortly..

there is a temple behind to commemorate those soldiers
who sacrificed their lives to build the mountainous roads long time ago..

and we left the location towards our hotel to end the day..
reached Hualien, another state in Taiwan..
checked in and rested..
had dinner at a famous restaurant
and went to their night market..

wondering what are we doing?
fireworks in Taiwan is legal and you are welcomed to put anytime
as long as you dont set it off at a crowded area..
oh that man that has the back towards the camera
is our tour guide..

we bought a few boxes of fireworks and set them off
at the beach near the night market
lighting up the skies above
and also created a fireworks show for those couples
along the beach

look at these!
the stall owners of the night market
came out to dance along the local tribal
music..
if there was any customer, they would politely ask
them to wait until the dance is over
seems like they have the deepest respect for their
tradition..

went back to the carpark and drove back to our hotel..

took this picture because i think the loansharks are VERY creative..

Day 4 (edited on March 30 2009)
i would name this day onwards as the breath taking day

its 4am and we were woken up by the morning call..
rise but no shine!

we joined a group of stargazers and sunrise-catchers
to a higher mountain..
halfway up we stopped and above us
with no tall buildings and dusts that hover over us
stars shine and moon glares brightly..

u cant find any place which gives u the absolute
perfect view of the stars above..
the tour guide then uses his powerful laser and showed
us the different constellations
and stars which resembled some horoscope
cant remember which exactly..

awesome..

OH and i saw 2 shooting stars!
just happened to saw them when i was admiring the stars above
well hey,
its my first time i saw a shooting star..
how i wish i can capture it with my camera

thats the North Star.
the star which is shining the brightest which my camera
could only picked up..
which also explains why there is only one picture throughtout the whole star
gazing session..
it was freezing cold too..
almost -3 or -4 degrees..

i can say that is one of the best part of my whole Taiwan trip..

moving on!
we travelled for another hour before we reach the peak of a mountain
arrived 15minutes before the sunrise..
it was still freezing cold..

with 2 shirts, 1 hoodie and a winter
clothing still has me shivering
from head to toe..

hahas! forgot to introduce.
she is 12years old.. the owner told me she is now
offically an ah ma!
poor ah ma is shivering too..

i cant smile properly in the photo,
it was TOO FREEZING COLD!

and so the sun rose..
as u can see from the pictures
the sun grows bigger and bigger

so all of us board the bus
and head downhill..
along the way, we stopped at some of
the attraction sites and took pictures..

see the top line to the extreme right?
thats is the line dividing the cold air which is
on the top and warm air on the bottom..
that created the line

the tree behind me is called the Couple Tree.
it was said that the branches of each tree
grew so close to each other that it almost seemed
like they were holding hands..
however, a lightning stuck them and rendered them leaf-less..
many people would come to the trees and pray and even
put offerings hoping they would find the love of their life..

the tour guide jokingly told us not to touch the trees too many times
otherwise u might end up with lots of girl/boy friends..

this is some kind of a sacred tree that has been around for a thousand year well aint interested.. and we finally reached out hotel packed our stuffs and checked out.. onwards to our next destination!

after hours of winding and twisting roads
which almost made me puke,
we reached another rest station

bought lots of the local snacks to be brought back to Singapore

after dunno-for-how long
journey
we reached another location called
The Sun Moon Lake
because there are two lakes adjoining each other and
the resembles like a sun and a moon
therefore the name came..

the lake was in the middle of towering mountains
with constant cool breeze, visiting the sites around the shores
of the lake is absolutely great

we booked a boat all by ourselves
to have all the time ourselves for as long as we want
otherwise we would have to jostle with the other tourists
for boats to and fro..

and we climbed up the hill to that temple at the top of the background..

this is another one of Taiwan local tribes..
watched their performances and moved on..

this is a still under construction of a cable car center..
moving on!

and after much visiting, i took this last picture as we left the lake

and dusk arrived
reached another location called "LuShan"
well
its known for its natural spring waters
to get rid of toxic in your body..

well, it feels like u turned on the hot water from ur
shower head..

NO WIRELESS!?
trying telling a city dweller that there isnt internet access

well, at least i can get to sleep earlier..

End Of Day 4

Day 3

this day we are leaving Taipei..
we hired a tour guide for the next 4 days to bring
us around the other places in Taiwan..

and so the tour guide cum driver drove his passenger van to
pick us up, and from then on, that will be our transportation around
all the places we are going to visit..

onwards!

and as hours passed,
we reached a rest station..
it was by the sea,
so the winds coming from the seas were extremely cold,
and the temperature was like 7 or 8 degrees..
the only thing on that kept me warm was my dear hoodie..

didnt took pictures as it was freezing hell.

and 2 hours later!
another rest station!

and after much rest, we moved on..
had another 2 more stops,
lunch and much

and we finally reached our destination.
Alishan (Ah-Li-Shan)
its a popular tourists destination to
understand more about the local tribes that had existed
long time ago..

fogs enshrouds us and the air is cooling as
checked into our hotel

oh and! besides talkactive they are,
they also like to keep dogs as their pets..
everywhere u go, u wont miss out the Taiwanese
people walking their dogs..

thats the train station,
the train brings u to the surrounding hills
for sightseeing and more..

as we arrived in the train station,
we just in time to watch their tribal dances..

and so we left the station to take this bus
to a nearby hill to watch the sunset..

it was said that sunrise and sunsets on these mountains
are spectacular and magnificent..
UNFORTUNELY!
the fogs was tooooooo thick to view the sunset
and sun would already set by the time the fog starts to
clear

oh well..
dinner time!

the meal!
after the sumptuous meal
i took a walk around their restaurant
they are very creative and put lots of efforts to
decorate their restaurant..

good things dont end well..
the shop's site is being brought over by some private developer
and has to close..
the owners themselves dont intend to resume their business anymore..
wad a pity..

after the dinner,
we went back to our hotel and rest for the night..

holy shit -- ..
and its only 8.30pm
i wonder what is the temperature at 2am?!

and suddenly,

shooting stars!

actually it isnt - -..
i just moved the camera while taking the moon..
oh well..
moved my laptop to the lobby
and online awhile..
SLEEP! ANDREW! SLEEP!
you gotta wake up at 4am the next day to catch the sunrise!

Day 2

10am
decided to take their MRT to the northern part of Taipei
called Danshui..
scenic place with great marketplace..

this is their one trip standard ticket..
very easy to lose it.. but its rather simple to use..

after a 40mins ride.
we reached Danshui!

their Starbucks has more shops than Macdonalds,
and u can find a 7-11 Store just right beside Starbucks..
like as though they are a couple..

this is the shorter version of the "Taipei 101" ice cream
there is a even taller one!

and after much walking and shopping done, we headed for
another location..
back on the train..

reached!
its was like the Esplanade of Singapore,
their theatre for the arts and a memorial hall
for their founder of Taiwan

there u can see many youngsters practising
their dance moves.
simply a mixture of the history times and modern dances.

u can see the Taipei 101 in the background..

and finally dinner,
met with my dad's Taiwanese friends for dinner.

i must say, taiwanese people are really really talkactive..
but they are extremely friendly..

left Singapore around 1pm and arrived at Taiwan around 6.30pm
there wasnt any time difference between Singapore and Taiwan,

took a taxi to our hotel in Taipei

look at the background of the cab, its dark.. and its only 6.30pm..
they spend most of the hours in darkness than sunlight..

checked in and rest for awhile before u made our way to a restaurant
my dad always patronize whenever he is in Taiwan for business..

the taste is rather blend.. and guess what,
their laws on drink driving is even harsher than Singapore!

this is our hotel room!
this room is only shared by my sis and me..
its kinda big too..

and so i online for the rest of the night..
chatting on msn, facebook and stuffs..

thats end of day 1!

MISSED

decided to create a post on my past secondary school life.
started to miss things i always do before, during and after lessons.

1) never without fail, everyday after school,
we would go to the nearby blocks to play a few rounds of block
catching..
well that was when we were sec 1.. a group of 15 sec 1 boys
would create a din on 4 blocks and a middle playground.
i still remember how we used to sabotage.
calling each other's handphone hoping the other dude
doesnt switch his phone to silent mode.
then the ringing tone would alert the hunting "police"

2) our school bags would seem very large in size.
not because it is filled with books but
we would bring extra home clothes to school.
whatever for?
LAN shops.
gunbounds filled our minds during lessons.
what the heck are homeworks?
but that was sec 2 if i aint wrong.

3) well this time,
its sec 3..
quan hua, zeming, joel and me were seated
at the last row near the metal cupboard..
well the impression of the people in the last row
were always lazy or such
and boy, were they right..
we brought food and tibits to school now and then
quan hua would bring peanuts to school
and share it among the 3 of us..
what do we do with the peanut shells?
throw at each other of course..
well most of the time, i often missed my target
and the floor would be littered with peanut shells
everyday..

there was this kind of water bottle that was very popular at
that time..
those kind of water bottles that can spray out water.. a popular one was the Nike brand.
and we always had water war behind..

4) sec4N2
before morning assembly,
we would gather in the canteen
to copy homeworks.. rushing words like never before..
handwritings are recognizable only to ourselves..
well most of the time we wouldnt even know what we were writing..

5) sec4N1
everytime we would escape to the boys toilet
in groups..
in the end, 10 or more boys or so cramped
into a small boys toilet waiting for a game of "blind mice" to start
and yes, if we arent lame enough we would climb over urinals, sinks,
cubicals..
well thats the way we would pass time because a relief teacher
is on her way to relief us..

6) last year of the sec sch life..
we were seated at the back row,
my lame buddy, Ivan would always entertain me
with cold lame jokes, teasing each other
making noises that irritated almost everyone.
and there was a period we would play poker!

yuncheng would always standby at the back door 5minutes
before recess time..
before he standby, he would always come to
the back and disturb me with his "Thai massage"
more like gay massage if you ask me..

and then came along weiyang,ruzaini and nizam.
otherwise also known as The Fours
excluding weiyang la..
cuz all he ever does is sleeps. (and emo)
not forgetting the girls in front of us and the F1 grid girl
beside us.
we would always share food and lame jokes..

those are really a good way to end this sec sch life

what a way to spend away the friday
night and feel the saturday morning.

its been long since i stayed overnight to
have fun with my friends..
the feeling is just, great!
